The
National Council of Women of the United States, Inc.,
is a coalition of organizations and individuals representing all
races, creeds and traditions, is dedicated to the realization of
full participation by women in every aspect of society.
In
1848, some of the leaders of NCW/US worked to abolish slavery. Thereafter,
NCW/US members gave priority to end child labor and improve conditions
in the workplace and women's suffrage.
The
council continues to address the diverse concerns of women in pursuit
of social, economic and political equality. NCW/US works for the
education, participation and advancement of women to make equality
for women a national obligation.
The
National Council of Women/US is the oldest non-sectarian women's
voluntary organization in America. Non-partisan and not-for-profit,
the Council is a coalition of independent member organizations as
well as individual members with constituency throughout the United
States.
NCW/US
is a United Nations Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) accredited
by the UN Deptartment of Public Information and the UN Economic
and Social Council (ECOSOC) with Consultative Status. NCW/US is
a 501(C)3 tax exempt organization.
